Gott, ich will dir danken,

so gut ich danken kann.

Damit ich`s nicht vergesse,

fang ́ ich gleich damit an.

1. Für Mehl, für Brot und Kuchen, für alles, was mir schmeckt,

für all die süßen Beeren, die ich im Wald entdeckt.

2. Für Gurken und Tomaten, Gemüse und Salat,

für Reis und für Kartoffeln. Das macht mich rund und satt.

3. Für diesen dicken Kürbis, den keiner übersieht,

für Äpfel und für Pflaumen dank ́ ich mit meinem Lied.

4. Du gabst uns allen reichlich. So fängt die Ernte an.

Ich will von Herzen danken, daß ich dir danken kann.
